Republican Caller to Limbaugh: “You’re a brainwashed Nazi.”

You gotta give credit to those who decide to stand up to Rush Limbaugh, even if they do it in a rather undignified manner. At least they have bigger balls than the so-called head of the Republican party. Via the Huffington Post:

Media Monitor Cathy Talbot tipped us off to an on-air smackdown that transpired today between Rush Limbaugh and one of his callers, who criticized the talk radio host for hurting the Republican party’s fortunes and supporting the practice of torture. The caller, Charles, identified himself as a Republican and a veteran, who “really didn’t want to see Obama get in office.” From there, he let loose, especially on the torture issue, telling Limbaugh, “We’re not supposed to be torturing these people. This is not Nazi Germany, Red China, or North Korea.” He then added, “I hate to say it…but I think you’re a brainwashed Nazi.”

While I don’t know if I necessarily agree with the assertion that Limbaugh is a Nazi, I certainly agree with the majority of the sentiments that the caller expresses (except the desire to not see Obama get elected, perhaps). It’s interesting, though not really surprising, that Limbaugh’s response to the guy is “You’re not a Republican,” and more specifically, “…you’re no Republican at all based on what the hell you just said right here.” …So, what exactly did the guy say to make him “no Republican”? My guess is the guy’s opposition to torture, which seemed to be his main complaint of Limbaugh, who in his opinion was espousing support for it. Arguably, that’s exactly what Limbaugh has done.

It seems to me that if Limbaugh’s definition of being Republican at all includes “support of torture,” then there must be very, very few real Republicans in the country. It’s doubtful to me that any large margin of the population agrees with torture. …I could be wrong. Hopefully I’m not. Now, one could argue with me that Limbaugh doesn’t endorse torture. But when Charles here attacked Limbaugh for it, Limbaugh never once disagreed with the assertion.

It’s not really news, but it’s certainly amusing, and nice to see someone actually standing up to Rush.
