About
What is this blog about?
Lots of things. It’s about whatever I happen to be interested in, or find interesting from day to day, or hour to hour, whatever it may be. I love politics and film, so there will most likely be a lot of posts concerning different political and current events, and movies, both current and older. There’s also a bit of randomness. I’m a random person a lot of the time, so there could be completely serious things one day, and completely amusing and “what the fuck?” moments on another. In a nutshell, it’s a reflection of me and my thoughts as best as can be expressed on a blog.
Why did you make this blog?
A lot of reasons. Firstly, I’ve blogged before. I was an avid and active blogger throughout the election over at Talking Points Memo, and I got hooked. But politics can get so frustrating at times, and at times things are so slow. There’s not much to say. With that in mind, I decided to try my hand at blogging about another thing I like: movies. That resulted in Cineviews, which is now closed and I guess defunct. So, after those attempts (among other less important ones), I decided to just make a blog about my thoughts, the things I’m interested in, of all types.
What does “Contemplication” mean, and why did you choose it?
It’s (as most would pick up on immediately), a combination of “contemplation” and “complication”. There are a couple reasons I picked it. Firstly, I wanted something that hadn’t really been done before. Secondly, I wanted a catchy name (is it too difficult or weird? …Maybe). But thirdly, I think it’s expressive of who I am and what I’m trying to do here: contemplate about X and/or Y… in a complex way? Hm. Maybe I need to rethink the title? Haha!
Who are you anyway?
My name’s Nathan Donarum and I’m a college student, currently majoring in Political Studies at Bard College. Not much else to say about me that hasn’t already been said in the above sections.
